DIN 30670 Coating Steel Pipe


DIN 30670 specifies requirements for factory-applied three-layer extruded polyethylene-based coatings, and polyethylene-based coatings for the corrosion protection of steel pipes and fittings. These one or multi-layered sintered PE coating provides sufficient protection against the mechanical, thermal and chemical loads occurring during operation, transport, storage and installation.

The coatings of DIN 30670 are applied to longitudinally or DSAW pipes or seamless steel pipes and fittings used for the construction of pipelines for conveying liquids or gases. The coatings are suitable for the protection of buried or submerged steel pipes at design temperatures of -40 °C up to +80 °C.

This standard ensures that PE coatings provide adequate protection against mechanical, thermal and chemical loads during operation, transportation, storage and installation. DIN EN ISO 21809-1 specifies the international standard requirements for the three layers extruded polyethylene and polypropylene based coatings for oil and gas pipeline transportation systems.

Along any 1m length of pipe, the coating thickness may be up to 10% less than the minimum required, provided the thinner area does not cover more than 5cm².
