SCM440 is a type of medium-carbon Cr-Mo alloy steel specified in Japanese standards. Chromium provides good hardness permeability and Molybdenum gives hardness uniformity and high strength. The steel has good ductility and resistance to high-temperature stress, is characterized by structural stability, low harmful elements, small decarburization layer, fewer surface defects, etc.
SCM440 steel pipe has better strength and good comprehensive mechanical properties after heat treatment, and is easier to process under heat treatment. It has excellent quenchability, can be deeply quenched and the temper brittleness tendency is less, widely used in the production of high strength steel fasteners such as engine, pressure vessle, gear, transmission parts, shaft, arm, cold forging parts, screw, etc..
