Grade 416 is a Martensitic free-machining stainless steel with 0.15 sulfur added based on 410 stainless steel. Free cutting 416 has good machinability and small friction coefficient, and its cutting performance is the best among other stainless steel, about 85% of that of free-cutting carbon steel. Maximum corrosion resistance can be obtained after hardening and polishing and corrosion resistance is lower than 410. After nitriding treatment, stainless steel free cutting 416 can improve the strength to more than 830Mpa and impact toughness AKV≥27J. Mainly used in automatic lathe, electronic components and various pump valve compressor parts, but not recommended for high temperature and below zero use.
