ASTM A756 specification covers the requirements for chromium-carbon bearing quality stainless steel to be used in the manufacture of anti-friction bearings. Grade 440C is a type of Martensitic stainless steel containing 16-18% Cr. It provides strong rust resistance, high temperature resistance and dimensional stability, can be used as corrosion resistant high temperature bearing steel.

Heat treatment
1) Annealing, slow cooling at 800 ~ 920℃;
2) Quenching,1010 ~ 1070℃ oil cooling;
3) Tempering,100 ~ 180℃ fast cooling.
Applications
The 440C can be used to manufacture bearing parts that work in corrosive and non-lubricated environments with strong oxidation.
