What's The Wear Resistant Steel Plate Used For?

Wear Resistant Steel Plate refers to the special plate products used for working conditions where large-area wear required, generally including ordinary wear-resistant steel plate and composite wear-resistant steel plate. Ordinary wear-resistant steel plate is the steel plate through heat treatment, quenching, tempering and other processes to change the internal atomic structure of the steel, or adding some alloy elements such as chromium to change the original characteristics of the steel. The composite wear-resisting steel plate is composed of low carbon steel plate and an alloy wear-resisting layer. The surface of the low alloy steel is made by surfacing a certain thickness of the plate with high hardness and good wear resistance of the alloy wear-resisting layer.

 


What are the advantages of wear-resistant steel plate?

  • Excellent wear resistance.

As the name suggests, wear-resistant steel has excellent wear resistance. The composite wear resistant alloy layer is generally 1/3~1/2 of the total thickness, with carbon content up to 4 ~ 5% and chromium content up to 25 ~ 30%. The metallographic volume of Cr7C3 carbide reaches more than 50%, it’s the macroscopic hardness is HRC56-62 and the hardness of chromium carbide is HV1400 ~ 1800. Because carbides are vertically distributed in the wear direction, their wear resistance is more than doubled even when compared with casting alloys of the same composition and hardness.

  •   Good impact resistance

The base layer of composite wear resistant steel plate is made of low carbon steel or low alloy steel plate, which can withstand the high load from medium and wear in the material conveying system.

 

  • Good heat resistance

The carbon steel base layer is recommended to be used at no more than 380℃, and the wear-resistant layer is no more than 600℃. Vanadium, molybdenum and other alloys added to the wear resistant layer can withstand≤800℃, for example, 15CrMo, 12Cr1MOV and other low-alloy steel plates are recommended not higher than 540℃ and heat resistant stainless steel substrate not higher than 800℃.

 

  • Good corrosion resistance

The alloy layer of wear-resisting composite steel plate contains highly chromium, which makes the plate more anti-rust and anti-corrosion, can be used in coal cylinder and funnel to prevent coal sticking.
